HealthSono is an information guide about ultrasound, also called sonography. We write for patients and the people who come with them to appointments.

Why we write it

Appointment letters are often brief. Medical words can make a routine scan sound frightening. Knowing what to expect makes the day easier, so we explain the common steps in plain words.

What we cover

• What happens in the scan room
• Questions you might ask your care team

What we don’t do

We don’t interpret images or results, diagnose anything, or tell you whether you need a scan. We don’t replace the instructions from the clinic or hospital that booked you. When their advice differs from ours, follow theirs.
